Uri was born in Jerusalem to a family of musicians and started taking violin lessons at the age of five. He graduated a musical high school and later studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. His interest in Celtic music first led him to play the Scottish Highland Pipes under the guidance of Uri Miles.
In 2005 Uri combined his skills on the violin with his passion for Celtic music and started playing Irish music, and soon after joined the sessions at Tel Aviv's Irish pub Molly Bloom's, where he still plays to this day. He later attended the Frankie Kenney Winter School in Donegal, Ireland.
Uri masters the traditional Irish and Scottish styles of fiddle playing and lately he followed a dream and travelled to Norway to learn to play the traditional Norwegian instrument, the Hardanger Fiddle. For quite a while he has been the source of many of Black Velvet's Scottish tunes, and his joining the band in 2015 is a natural move. Uri lives in Tel Aviv now and studies choir conducting, musicology and history at the Tel Aviv Music University.
