A self-taught musician, Ehud's early interest in rock and blues guitar playing gave way to folk music in the late seventies. Following a visit to Ireland in 1978, he began playing mandolin, whistles, bodhrán and Irish bouzouki; the latter becoming his main instrument.
Ehud founded Black Velvet in 1980. Since then on he has been music director and general manager of the band, leading it through several reformations.
Over the years Ehud's original compositions have been added to the band's traditional Irish/ Celtic repertoire. These original pieces are rhythmically complex, bearing influences from other musical styles; mainly Eastern European and Middle Eastern music. Ehud's creations are now an important part of the band's style and sound.
In 1992, a musical bond was formed between Ehud and Israeli Rock musician Izhar Ashdot, which first led to recordings and later to joint concerts of the successful "Irish Tour". For nearly seven years and hundreds of concerts Ehud was an important part of Izhar's band, and added the Irish flavour to the singer's songs.
